of the GE Run Thru the Woods.

The 20th Annual GE Run Thru the Woods is an annual charity event designed for all ages and levels of fitness. Proceeds benefit the South Montgomery County YMCA Partners Program, Operation Graduation, Conroe ISD AFJROTC, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Education Outreach Program and Montgomery County Humane Society. In 2008, more than 4,200 partcipants joined us and raised more than $110,000. 



Race Time and Location
When: Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009

Where: Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion,
              2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, Texas

Start Times:
   7:45am - 1 Mile Children's Race, for ages 12 and under
   8:15am - 5 Mile Run 
   8:20am - 3 Mile Teen Run, for ages 12 - 17 
   8:25am - 3 Mile Walk

Training Tips

Canned Food Drive
We will be having a canned food drive in collaboration with Can-N-Keys, Christian Food Bank. All runners/walkers are asked to bring canned goods on race day morning. There will be 5 collection locations in the parking areas around the Pavilion and in the Pavilion. Collection barrels will also be available at the South Montgomery County YMCAs during the month of November.

Event Information
Early registration deadline is November 12, 2009
Entry fee includes t-shirt, goodie bag, refreshments and pancake breakfast.
All registrations after November 12 will incur a late fee and will not be guaranteed a t-shirt or race goodie bag.

Please Note...  
Those failing to comply with the following race restrictions will be escorted off the course by security.

  • No pets allowed at the event or on the course.
  • No roller blades, bicycles, strollers or jogging strollers allowed on the 1-mile, 3-mile or 5 mile race courses.
  • Strollers and wagons are allowed on the walk course only.

  • Champion "D" Timing Tag:  Timing system for scoring the 5 mile run, 1 mile children's race, and 3 mile teen race.
    (To receive your finish time and place, attach the timing tag to your running shoe. As you cross the finish line, the antennae in the mats will pick up a signal from you chip and send a time to the computer.)

    Men & Women Open Championship 5 Mile Race: 
    Overall Winner, Male and Female

    Overall Top 3 Finishers (Male & Female):  
    1st Place: $100 and Continental Airlines Tickets, 2nd Place: $75, 3rd Place: $50
    (If a runner is ineligible for the cash award, the award will be donated back to the run and the benefiting charities.) 

    Age Group Category:  
    Plaques will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, male and female in each age group category:
     0-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over. 

    Masters Category 5 Mile Race (40 years and over):  Plaques awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, Male and Female

    Clydesdale 5 Mile Race (Optional category for men, 200 lbs and over):  Plaques awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place 

    Athena 5 Mile Race (Optional category for females, 145 lbs and over):  Plaques awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place

    Children's 1 Mile Race: 
    1st, 2nd and 3rd place awarded to overall winners, Male & Female. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, male and female in each age group category. 0-5, 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12.  All children will receive a finsher's medal.

    3 Mile Teen Race:
    1st, 2nd and 3rd place awarded to overall winners, Male & Female. Plaques will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, male and female in each age group category. 12 - 14 and 15 - 17.

    3 Mile Walk:  All walkers will receive a participation ribbon. 

    There are no duplication of awards.
